If you follow me on instagram, you’ll know that I LOVE the NYX brand, especially their lip products! So, when they posted months in advance that their new launch of liquid lipsticks were coming soon, you know I just had to have them, especially with my lipstick obsession and all. After
stalking the NYX instagram page, they finally announced the Liquid Suede line was available on July 22, 2015! Shamelessly, I ordered all 12 shades: Tea & Cookies, Sandstorm, Soft-Spoken, Vintage, Cherry Skies, Stone Fox, Amethyst, Sway, Kitten Heels, Pink Lust, Orange County, and Life’s A Beach. (To see swatches of all of the colors click here.)
At only, $7 a pop, these bad boys are AMAZING. I am not kidding when I say that the Liquid Suede line gives Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks and Kat Von D Liquid Lipstics (both retailing for a whopping $20) a run for their money! I signed up to receive e-mails from NYX and received 25% off my purchase. Plus, I also received FREE shipping! With tax, my order came to $66.78. For that price, I would only be able to purchase 3 of the Anastasia Beverly Hills or Kat Von D liquid lipsticks! Not surprising to me, this launch sold out the first day they went on sale!
Once, I received them in the mail, I planned out my makeup look of the day for the next two weeks, so that I could wear one color each day. The Liquid Suede line wears beautifully! My lips remained hydrated throughout the day and my lipstick lasted until I was ready to take it off late into the evening. I only re-applied during lunch time, and that really wasn’t necessary, as each color stained my lips, but I reapplied anyway, just so the boldness of the color would come through.
I also loved the fact that the doe foot wand applicator comes with a flat tip on both sides. Since I did not wear a lip liner with the lipsticks, I used a lip brush to outline my lips first, and then I would apply the product with the applicator. I found it easier to apply them this way.
The only color that was iffy for me was Stone Fox. Stone Fox is the grayish/bluish/greenish color (it looks different on everyone depending on your skin tone). Because it is an on trend color, I wore it, but I did notice that this color tended to *bleed* a bit on my top lip onto my cupid’s bow. Because of this, it wasn’t my favorite. The next time I choose to wear this color, I will definitely use a lip pencil that prevents *bleeding* to see if it helps.
Kayla’s final thought
I love NYX! They really hit it out of the ball park with the Liquid Suede line. You cannot beat the low price of $7 for such a good quality product. The Liquid Suede’s can definitely go up against the more expensive brands. When I would wear them out, I received many compliments and obtained bragging rights as I mentioned I ordered them online, but they were already sold out.
NYX released them at ulta.com on August 22, 2015 and
they will be available to purchase in all Ulta stores on September 24, 2015 THEY ARE AVAILABLE AS OF SEPTEMBER 21ST, IN ALL ULTA STORES!
**Also of importance, NYX is pronounced “Niks”, as in the greek goddess of Night, not “N-Y-X”. I know this to be true because they tweeted me here.
Were you able to score any of the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks? What’s your favorite color? If you haven’t yet, which color(s) do you want to get? Let me know in the comments below. I would love to hear from you.
